Flat (Mac) Stanley back home

Macstanley, or to us, Flat Stanley

Macstanley, or to us, Flat Stanley

I received an update from the Flat Stanley (Macstanley) crew who have recently returned from their second promotional tour of Germany. The group is really looking forward to being able to tour South Africa again, and they will be kicking it off with shows in Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and then finally Cape Town.

I have a history with Andrew Mac, having gone to high school with him, and dealt with his previous business, but thus far have only had the pleasure of enjoying one show of theirs, at the Baxter Theatre, last year September. But I have listened to their album many times over, and I just know that they are going to make it in Europe.

We were very chuffed to hear that Flat Stanley (or Macstanley as they will be known as in Europe) had signed a massive record deal with German iMusic Records, and with the promise of spending about a million Euro’s on the promotions and marketing of the group I’d say that they have kicked the door down instead of just getting a foot in it!

Here was the message I received from them:

Hey guys & girls,

Between 2wo Worlds by Macstanley

It’s been a while so we thought we’d send out a quick update on what’s been happening in the FS camp, and what’s planned for the next few weeks..

As most of you know, we’ve just returned from our 2nd promo trip to Europe this year. “Between 2wo Worlds” (by MACSTANLEY) launched in Germany, Austria & Switzerland on Fri 27 March and much to our amazement sold out on Amazon.de within a matter of hours!

So the label and everyone in the camp are very happy with the way things are going at this early stage. We travelled round Germany and did countless radio interviews & unplugged in-studio performances in cities such as Frankfurt, Cologne, Dortmund, Munich etc..

It was amazing, but exhausting!

Now we’re back home, and the plan is to look at returning to Europe for a couple of festivals in July/Aug and then again for a club tour in Sep/Oct. But we’ll keep u posted on developments.

As for what our plans are back home.. here goes..

Next week we are popping up to Jozi for our first Gauteng shows of 2009.

Thur 30 April – The Blues Room, Village Walk, Sandton (Bookings – 011 784 5527).

Sat 2 May – FTV Silverstar, Silverstar Casino, Muldersdrift (Bookings – 011 662 1317).

If you’re in Jozi, we REALLY hope to see u at one of these shows!

The following w/end we’ll be back with our friends in PE to launch their new premises:

Sat 9 May – Tapas al Sol, Port Elizabeth

..and FINALLY.. seeing as we ARE a Capetonian band..!!

We will be playing an EXTREMELY special, long overdue, home town show at the end of May

Fri 22 May – The Assembly, 61 Harrington St, CT (with special guests JacSharp & The Louise Day Band)
Pre-sale tickets available from http://www.webtickets.co.za at R50 ea (R60 at the door).

It’s gonna be MASSIVE!!

That’s all for now, but lots more coming in the weeks & months ahead and we’ll try and keep u posted regularly.

Thanks for your ongoing love & support!

Peace

FS

So keep an eye out for upcoming shows, and get out there and show the love!

Here is their reworked track “As I am” that has been released under their new name, Macstanley.
